It is indeed alarming that most of us spend a large part of our daily lives in our workplaces. My demanding job was really stressful because of which I was not able to concentrate on my family at all. After working for 6.5 years in the IT industry, I reached my tipping point and wanted to take a break badly to spend some time with my daughter and family. So, I went ahead and took a one year long break.
During this period, I updated my skills in automation field through online courses and various portals. After my break, I found out about SAP’s “Back to Work” program and applied. It was only through this program that I was able to get back to professional field again. This program sharpened my skills, connected me to a group of fabulous people and gave me confidence to move forward in my career. Currently, I am working with SAP as a Solution Manager and will soon be pursuing my Post Graduation. The work-life balance is very much maintained in SAP and I am happy to be working with a company like SAP. I don’t regret taking a career break since I strongly believe that one must maintain a balanced equation between career and personal life.
For the women who are currently on a career break or are looking for jobs, please don’t panic if you are unable to clear interviews. Make use of this time to upgrade your skill sets. Try learning new technologies. Meet the people around you who are working on these technologies and get their experience and feedback. Always keep in mind that ‘SOMETHING GOOD IS WAITING FOR YOU ’
